A SYDNEY LAYOVER / OUR NZ ADVENTURE
Our journey to the other side of the world included a full day stop-over in Sydney, after only a short 22 hours on a plane. As I've been to Sydney before, I tried my best to show Ollie the highlights.
We got the train from Sydney International Airport to Circular Quay. We couldn't find much information easily online, but a return journey was $35 and you can buy an Opal Card and hop on the train at the Airport. The journey is 20 minutes, and no changes!
We started the morning with breakfast at Cafe Extra, right on Circular Quay. Their generous portion of scrambled eggs filled the perfect hole after so long travelling. We headed over to The Rocks to explore the most historic part of Sydney's history.
An essential stop at Messina for delicious ice cream was followed by a walk in the Botanical Gardens.
We visited the Plants with Bite exhibition in the gardens, with a huge amount of biting plants on display (though so many were the same...).
I made sure to take Ollie on a ferry ride in Sydney Harbour, so we hopped on a boat to Neutral Bay (which is basically all residential, wouldn't recommend - try Manly instead, if you have time).
